In today’s world, the majority of the population do not know how to handle sudden cardiac attacks and when to see a doctor. Sudden cardiac deaths account for 15-20% globally, and among this, 1-2% are below 35 years. The main cause for sudden cardiac death is hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (thickening of heart muscles), which is due to genetic factors and it goes unnoticed as the symptoms are so mild. The second reason is coronary heart disease, in which the risk factors are lifestyle patterns namely smoking, alcohol consumption, poor diet, lack of physical activity. Many patients with heart disease don’t do their regular checkups fearing the risk of infection. All theatres have a dedicated air handling units to match the air exchanges and a special OT flooring, both as per the international infection control norm
Considering the above facts, and to observe World Heart Day, Bama Subramanian Memorial Hospital launched a Free Heart Check-up Camp on 10.12.2022(between 3.00pm- 6.00pm) to create awareness among the public enabling them to gain quality healthcare. The campaign reached out to the general public, aiming to identify cardiac risks and abnormalities thereby encouraging people to lead a healthy life. Dr. V. Premnath., M.D., D.M., DEM (UK)., Consultant & Interventional Cardiologist, treated the patients, and provided free checkup for Blood Sugar, BP, and ECG (on need). At BSM Hospital, we encourage people to have a timely diagnosis and intervention which we believe plays a key role in saving lives, and this can be achieved through constant awareness whenever possible.
