(Oncology), at BSM Hospital, sometimes treatments are meant to cure the cancer. Other times, our goal is to stop the cancer from spreading further. Some treatments may be given to reduce side effects of other treatments and make patients more comfortable, which is called palliative care. Palliative care can be given at any stage of cancer treatment, even if it’s treatable, and accordingly treatment plans may change over time.
